1. Take a ride on the historic Virginia & Truckee Railroad.

The Virginia & Truckee Railroad was built to serve the Comstock Lode mining communities of northwestern Nevada. Today, it operates as a heritage railroad and is headquartered in Virginia City.

2. Go whitewater rafting down the Truckee River.

In addition to kayaking, whitewater rafting is a very popular recreational activity enjoyed by many watersports enthusiasts on the Truckee River.

3. Explore and appreciate the beauty of Lamoille Canyon.

Lamoille Canyon, best known as the "Grand Canyon" of Nevada, is the largest valley in the Ruby Mountains.

12. Go fishing at Pyramid Lake.

Pyramid Lake, located in Washoe County, is a remnant of ancient Lake Lahontan and was once inhabited by the 19th-century Paiute Tribe.

13. Spend a wonderful weekend camping in Nevada’s desert.

From RV sites to tent sites, there are many wonderful camping spots located throughout Nevada.

14. Visit Eldorado Canyon’s Techatticup Mine.

Eldorado Canyon's Techatticup Mine is the oldest, richest and most famous mine in Southern Nevada. It stands out from other mines because around $2 million worth of silver and gold is still inside.

15. As the summer comes to a close, be sure to attend Burning Man.

Burning Man is an annual gathering that takes place in the Black Rock Desert where attendees explore many different types of artistic self-expression. The 2016 Burning Man event will take place from August 28 to September 5.
